In this three-part series, Srinivas (Srini) Shankar, who was appointed President and CEO in February 2025, discusses GlobalLogic’s strengths and vision as part of the Hitachi Group. The Origins of Co-Creative Engineering

GlobalLogic was founded in 2000 in Silicon Valley, USA. At the time, the company engaged primarily in software and product development for leading Independent Software Vendors (ISVs). From the very beginning, GlobalLogic has not been merely a contractor that executes development work. We aspired to closely collaborate with our clients to co-create products and deliver value as a true partner.

This ideal has evolved into what we call the “Lab Model.” In this model, we establish a dedicated team within the client’s organization. With no separation between the client and GlobalLogic, we use this “Zero Distance” approach to facilitate the co-creation of long-term value. Empowered with a deeper understanding of the client’s strategy, corporate culture, and business goals, GlobalLogic engineering teams can function as an integral part of the client’s own development organization. Highly regarded by technology companies across Silicon Valley, our co-creation framework uniquely defines GlobalLogic.

A few years after our founding, industries rapidly transitioned into the era of SDx (Software Defined Anything/Everything)—particularly in the fields such as Communications, Medical Technology, Mobility and Media. Harnessing this wave of change, GlobalLogic grew into a leading company in digital engineering. Today, we have approximately 32,000 employees across 25 countries and work in partnership with around 600 client companies worldwide.
GlobalLogic is also known as a leader in AI backed by a workforce of 16,000 AI professionals including 2,000 AI data engineers and experts and a track record of over 500 product engineering projects, We also offer dedicated AI training for all our employees to foster a culture of widespread AI utilization. Fusion of Capabilities with Hitachi Group

When GlobalLogic became a member of the Hitachi Group in 2021, our name was relatively unknown in Japan. Hitachi’s huge investment in GlobalLogic was headline news, but not merely because of the financial scale. In fact, this acquisition represented a fusion of capabilities aimed at advancing Hitachi’s Social Innovation to the next stage.

For over 110 years, Hitachi has solved social challenges through technology, data, partnerships and innovation. Leveraging its three core strengths: IT (Information Technology), OT (Operational Technology), and Products in fields from energy and mobility to social infrastructure and industry, Hitachi has been globally expanding its Lumada portfolio of solutions, services, and technologies. Characterized by its co-creation framework, Lumada uses the latest digital technologies to generate value from customers’ data and provides end-to-end support for business creation processes and digital innovation from user experience design to the development and improvement of products and services.

GlobalLogic’s co-creation approach also supports customers’ digital journeys end-to-end. We achieve this by forming “Lab Model” teams of professionals: designers who design user experiences through design thinking; advisors who formulate digital strategies; engineers with abundant expertise in rapid product development and deployment; and data scientists who obtain insights through data analysis utilizing AI. Through co-creation on a global scale, they accelerate customers’ digital innovation and support the development of new digital products and user experiences.

Hitachi and GlobalLogic Co-Creation Synergies

GlobalLogic’s approach to co-creation complements Hitachi’s Lumada methodology. Our fusion not only accelerates the global expansion and application development of digital solutions that Hitachi’s Lumada has cultivated over the years. The synergy of our approaches also enhances the worldwide deployment of its Social Innovation Business, which aims to solve customers’ and society’s challenges through digital engineering. Ultimately it accelerates the realization of “True One Hitachi” with digital technology at its core — an initiative which strengthens Hitachi Group collaboration across its four sectors of Energy, Mobility, Connective Industries, and Digital Systems & Services, and the creation of unique value that only Hitachi can provide.

When I joined GlobalLogic in 2023, I was deeply impressed by the histories of both GlobalLogic and Hitachi, and by the significance of their integration. Since I was appointed President and CEO in February 2025, I have been proud to lead such an innovative and creative company as GlobalLogic. As a member of the Hitachi Group, we are all inspired by the opportunity to support our customers’ transformation through the design and engineering of digital products and services that create a positive impact on society and the global environment, and to contribute to the realization of Hitachi’s Social Innovation initiatives.

Part 1: Leading the Way in Digital Engineering and AI

Srini Shankar
President and CEO of GlobalLogic. Srini joined GlobalLogic in 2023 as Chief Business Officer and Head of the Global Industries, where he led the acceleration of go-to-market strategies for industry-specific business units. He assumed his current role in February 2025. With nearly 30 years of experience in digital business and leadership, Srini drives the company's growth and transformation, overseeing corporate vision, business strategy execution, and global operations.
He holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management. Before joining GlobalLogic, Srini held several key leadership positions at Cognizant and Infosys, contributing to market expansion and sustainable growth. Currently, he resides in New Jersey with his family. In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis, reading history books, and traveling.
